Audi India’s next model launch is now expected to be the S5 Sportback four-door sports coupe.
BMW recently launched one such model in the form of the M340i and currently Audi follows suit with the S5 Sportback. This one is Audi's model launch for the German brand in India this year, 2021. There seems to be an emerging trend of types, especially for India which previously would only get a top spec sedan or its full blown sporty alternative. The company has just launched its new entry-level, SUV the Audi Q2.
Exterior
Audi made it easier by classifying the even numbers for their regular sedans whereas the odd numbers are reserved for their coupes like S-line and RS models. The Audi S5 Sportback receives revised styling compartments that add in even more visual drama. The design cues such as the single-frame honeycomb grille which is now flatter with slits above forming a link to the iconic Audi Sport quattro from 1984.
The sloping roofline with the four-door layout along with the visible 19-inch alloy wheels don’t do much to hide the model’s distinct layout. The 48.26 cm, 5 double arm S style Graphite Gray alloys paired with optional red brake calipers.
The front end gets a slightly wider grille and the LED headlamps are revised and therefore, the air-dams on the lower bumper look sportier, in-line with the RS models. The side remains unchanged and highlights the clean coupe lines whereas the rear is seen with reworked LED tail lights. It will additionally provide an optional Black styling package that gives all the sportier look.
Interior
If we talk about interior, it is top-notch. There is a three-zone climate control, head-up display, a 19-speaker and 755W Bang & Olufsen sound system with 3D sound for comfort and entertainment. An updated MMI controller for the 10.1-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit Plus and a panoramic glass sunroof are amongst other highlights inside.
It also offers a brilliant blend of comfort and sportiness. An optional Comfort Key with sensor controlled luggage compartment release is also offered with this model. Sport front seats, a flat-bottomed wheel, and Alcantara leather upholstery set the tone for the cabin.
Engine
The S5 Sportback will be powered by a 3.0-litre TFSI engine with direct and indirect fuel injection, turbo-charging, and Audi valvelift, that delivers 349hp and 500Nm of torque. The S5 Sportback can accerlate from 0-100kmph in just 4.5 seconds. All this power is shifted to all four wheels via quattro permanenr all-wheel drive with automatic differential.
