₹10,000 fine for not having a pollution certificate!

As per government officials, it is now compulsory to have a pollution certificate for every vehicle. Means, BS1, BS2, BS3,BS4, and BS6 vehicles need to have a valid PUCC. Even if your vehicle is equipped with CNG or LPG kits, you would need to have a PUC certificate. Pollution certificate for BS4 and BS6 vehicles gets renewed for one year as of now. Whereas, for BS1, BS2 and BS3 vehicles need to get their PUC renewed in three months.

New Delhi has seen a numerous increase in the number of new pollution certificate issuances in the last week. The reason behind this is hefty fine of ₹ 10,000 for not carrying pollution certificates. Around 6,000 pollution certificates were issued in Delhi on daily basis. But, now the number has reached to 38,000 certificates per day.

Residents get notified via SMS about the expiry of pollution certificate. Now the message also states a penalty of 10,000 along with the imprisonment of up to 3 months.
